A Reasonable Day in the Life of an Online Student Typical Student

While people have different learning styles and modes, you may want to consider these guidelines and suggestions as you plan your schedule. Once you begin working on various units, there is no doubt you will decide what works best for you.

  1. Begin your session by checking both your E-mail and the Announcement link for messages posted by me. There may be messages providing additional instructions, directions, advice, or suggestions. Students in this course are encouraged to post messages that ask questions or share information that has been helpful to you within the Anlon message center.
  2. When applicable, respond to the postings in the message or post your own discussion thread. Be careful that you do NOT provide the answers for graded assignments.
  3. Read the appropriate web page that provides online instructions. You might read the chapter summary and/or key concepts; complete an assignment by submitting an online form, or respond to an activity in an e-mail message.
  4. Use resource web sites to complete assignments and enhance learning.
  5. Share your thoughts, ideas, and questions with other members of the class.

You will not be asked to submit all assignments in the textbook. Sometimes you may be asked to share some assignments with collaborative group members. Even though some assignments are not submitted for credit, you are expected to complete these assignments. The topics in some of the chapters or activities may be needed in future assignments -- besides your learning of this subject matter depends upon "your" commitment to the learning process.

Occasionally, your instructor will ask you to engage in discussion or complete an assignment relative to a current event affecting the material in the course,
